According to GOV.UK website, a funding competition has been launched to promote the advancement and integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the priority sectors of transport, construction, agriculture, and creative industries. Innovate UK, a segment of UK Research and Innovation, is set to invest up to £32 million in such innovative projects.
Key aspects of the proposal should:
- Identify a solution end user within the named priority sectors.
- Detail how the solution will bolster business productivity or efficiency in a priority sector.
- Outline the role of key partners in the research commercialization process.
The competition has been divided into two strands:
- Collaborative R&D projects
- Projects by single entities
Prospective applicants should ensure their application corresponds with the appropriate strand. Transfer between strands won’t be permissible, and misaligned applications won’t proceed for evaluation.
The funding format is a grant, and projects can request grant funding ranging from £700,000 to £1.2 million. The competition will begin on Wednesday, 27 September 2023 and conclude on Wednesday, 8 November 2023 at 11:00am UK time. This initiative is a competitive process, so ensure your proposals are comprehensive and timely submitted.
