Bluewhite Robotics Ltd., an Israeli innovator in autonomous farming technology, has secured $39 million in its latest funding round. This significant investment underscores the growing importance of AI in modernizing agricultural practices. Since its inception in 2017, Bluewhite has amassed a total of $87.5 million in funding, showcasing the strong confidence of investors in its technology.
At the core of Bluewhite’s offerings is “Pathfinder,” a transformative solution that converts nearly any tractor into a self-operating machine. This system integrates artificial intelligence and a suite of sensors, liberating tractors from reliance on GPS or external communication systems. Instead, technologies like lidar and cameras guide these autonomous vehicles. Pathfinder forms part of a comprehensive system that enables remote management of farming tasks such as spraying, mowing, and furrowing.
“Compass,” another critical component of Bluewhite’s system, functions on the backend. It harnesses AI to analyze data and generate actionable insights, aiding farmers in enhancing crop yields. The adaptability of this technology is showcased in its capacity to grant manual tractor control when necessary.
The company’s technology has already marked significant achievements in the United States, collaborating with over 20 growers specializing in permanent crops. Its versatility extends to a variety of crop types like nuts, berries, apples, grapes, and hops. The system has been a part of over 50,000 hours of autonomous farming, covering 150,000 acres in states like California and Washington.
With the new capital infusion, Bluewhite Robotics plans to scale its autonomous tractor operations in the U.S. and venture into global markets. This expansion reflects the company’s commitment to easing the burdens of farming through AI-enhanced robotics, offering a glimpse into the future of agriculture.
Ben Alfi, co-founder and chief executive of Bluewhite, said:
“Having already proven the commercial success of our solution with growers, this new round of funding will enable us to continue providing sustainable autonomous innovation to more markets and work with different types of partners across the ecosystem to impact every level of the food supply chain.
This next phase of our growth will help provide unprecedented transparency throughout the food supply chain and ensure healthier, safer and more sustainable food production and consumption.”
