Adobe has introduced an AI assistant in its Acrobat and soon in Reader applications, designed to summarize and interact with PDF documents. Now in beta, this feature will be part of a subscription plan post-beta.
Unlike external AI tools requiring document uploads, Adobe’s assistant integrates directly, offering overviews, answering questions through a conversational interface, and even suggesting potential inquiries. It enhances user productivity by facilitating quick information retrieval and generating content for various formats. This development reflects Adobe’s commitment to integrating advanced AI in its offerings responsibly, amidst growing innovations in AI-driven content creation.
In an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” on Tuesday, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen said the new tool represents the company’s goal to “democratize access” to the trillions of PDFs in use.
“Just imagine you’ve opened a 100-page document. You want to understand the summary, you want to have a conversation with it, you want to ask questions,” said Narayen. “You want to correlate that with other documents that you might have as well as the entire information that you have in your enterprise.”
