Ruba Borno Unveils AWS’s New Generative AI Program for Partners

“I’m really excited to be coming to you live from Seattle, where we’re hosting 200 of our most strategic partners,” said Ruba Borno, VP of worldwide channels and alliances at Amazon Web Services (AWS), during an interview with Caroline Hyde on Bloomberg Technology. This enthusiasm marked the beginning of a deep dive into AWS’s innovative initiative: a generative AI competency program aimed at empowering its partners. As a leading provider of cloud computing services, AWS is charting the future of technology by integrating AI into the operational backbone of businesses.

The newly launched program has already enlisted over 45 partners, skilled in leveraging AWS’s generative AI technologies including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, and Amazon Q. Borno emphasized the importance of this initiative.

“These partners have demonstrated not only experience and knowledge of those technologies, but customer success, customer success with multiple production-ready use cases,” said Borno. This emphasis on practical, actionable AI solutions underlines AWS’s commitment to transforming business operations through advanced technology.

The conversation highlighted the pressing need for businesses to adopt AI in a manner that transcends mere aspiration.

Customers right now are thinking that I’ve heard about generative AI,” she said. “I know it can transform my business, but who can I work with and what are the right use cases I can use?” This reflects the program’s objective to demystify AI for AWS customers and provide clear, effective implementation strategies.

Among the examples Borno shared was the collaboration between Mission Cloud and Magellan TV, which used generative AI to dramatically lower the cost of making documentaries available in multiple languages.

“It was cost prohibitive to do the old way with generative AI, they were able to reduce that down to less than a dollar per minute,” said Borno, showing how AWS’s AI solutions are enabling businesses to achieve global scale more economically.

Addressing the critical issue of AI ethics, Borno asserted: “Responsible AI is core to every service from us. We’ve heard customers and partners state concerns about generative AI.”

AWS places a high priority on embedding security and ethical guidelines into its AI services from the outset, ensuring that businesses can safeguard sensitive data while leveraging the transformative power of AI.

Through this competency program, AWS is not merely advocating for the adoption of AI technologies but is also ensuring their responsible and impactful application across different sectors. Borno’s insights reveal AWS’s pivotal role in driving the next wave of business innovation, making AI accessible, practical, and secure for enterprises worldwide.
