Meta Launches Free AI Assistant Meta AI on WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook & Messenger, Featuring Real-Time Knowledge & Creative Capabilities

Meta announced the rollout of its new artificial intelligence assistant, Meta AI, across its social media platforms WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger on Thursday. This marks the company’s most significant foray into AI. Developed on Meta’s latest large language model, Meta Llama 3, Meta AI offers features such as answering questions, creating animations, and generating images, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

“We believe that Meta AI is now the most intelligent AI assistant that you can freely use,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in the video.

In a distinctive move, Meta has integrated search results from both Google and Microsoft into this tool. Additionally, Meta AI is accessible through a dedicated search box on these platforms, allowing users to seek recommendations, plan vacations, or find decorating ideas.

The assistant is also available on the website “meta.ai” for tasks like solving math problems or crafting emails. An image-generation feature is currently in beta testing on WhatsApp and the MetaAI website, with capabilities to animate images into GIFs. Initially launched in beta during the Connect event in September, Meta AI has now been released in English in over a dozen countries, including the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
