When it comes to leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) on the Bumble dating platform, founder and executive chair Whitney Wolfe Herd has an ambitious but purposeful goal — using it to foster “more healthy and equitable relationships.”
In an interview at the recent Bloomberg Technology Summit, Wolfe Herd outlined her vision: “Our focus with AI is to help create more healthy and equitable relationships. And that also starts with yourself.”
She explained how Bumble could deploy AI as a “dating concierge” to provide personalized guidance.
“You could share your insecurities,” she said. “I just came out of a breakup, I’ve commitment issues and it could help you train yourself into a better way of thinking about yourself.”
The AI assistant could even take dating prep a step further.
“There is a world where your dating concierge could go and date for you with other dating concierges,” Wolfe Herd said, quickly adding: “No, no. truly.”
Ultimately, the aim is to leverage AI to enhance human connections across all spheres of life through Bumble. As Wolfe Herd stated: “We will not be a dating app in a few years. Dating will be a component, but we will be a true human connection platform.”
“We are going to lean in fast and furiously, staying very committed to our Northern star, a safer, kinder digital platform for more healthy and more equitable relationships, always putting women in the driver’s seat,” Wolfe Herd said, driving home Bumble’s core principles.
