NVIDIA Unveils Next-Gen AI Chips Amid Fierce Market Competition and Accelerated Release Cycle

On Sunday, NVIDIA unveiled its next-generation AI chips, named “Rubin,” just months after announcing the previous “Blackwell” model in March. CEO Jensen Huang introduced Rubin ahead of the COMPUTEX tech conference, marking a quick turnaround in their chip development cycle.

“Today, we’re at the cusp of a major shift in computing,” Huang said Sunday. “With our innovations in AI and accelerated computing, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and driving the next wave of technological advancement.”

NVIDIA has quickened the pace of its release schedule to a yearly cycle, in comparison to the previous two-year timeline. This quick update stresses the fierce competition in the AI chip market, with NVIDIA working relentlessly to stay ahead of the pack. Others like AMD and Intel — NVIDIA’s rivals in the market, as well as tech giants such as Microsoft, Google and Amazon — are all competing for market share.

The Rubin platform will feature new GPUs and a central processor called “Vera,” although details were sparse.

NVIDIA’s shares remained stable, closing at $1,096 on Friday.
