Mukesh Ambani, the billionaire chairman of Reliance Industries, has announced a significant push into artificial intelligence (AI) and deep tech, positioning the company for accelerated growth. Speaking at the annual shareholders’ meeting, Ambani outlined how Reliance is transforming itself into a deep tech company, embedding AI across all its business sectors.
“This ongoing tech-driven transformation of Reliance will propel your company into a new orbit of hyper growth and multiply its value for years to come,” Ambani stated, signalling a strong commitment to technology-driven expansion. He revealed that Reliance has built an “AI-native digital infrastructure” that integrates workflows and real-time dashboards, a move that aligns with the company’s broader goal of becoming a leader in technology innovation.
Ambani also underlined the role of in-house research and development, saying that Reliance spent over ₹3,643 crores in the last financial year alone on R&D.
“We have more than 1,000 scientists and researchers working on critical research projects across all our businesses,” he said, which underscores the company’s dedication to pioneering technologies in AI, 5G, and other cutting-edge fields.
With over 2,555 patents filed last year, Reliance is set to drive India’s transformation into a “deep technician” nation, laying the groundwork for sustained technological leadership.
