OpenAI has reached a milestone of one million paying business users across its ChatGPT Enterprise, Team, and Edu offerings, a significant jump from 600,000 users in April. The company first launched ChatGPT Enterprise in August last year, followed by ChatGPT Team in January and ChatGPT Edu in May. These products cater to different business needs, offering features like access to the latest models, data analysis, and customization options.
More than half of the growth comes from outside the U.S., with top markets including Germany, Japan, and the U.K. Major organizations such as Arizona State University, Moderna, Rakuten, and Morgan Stanley are using OpenAI’s business solutions.
In a survey of 4,700 business users, OpenAI found its tools are contributing to a 92% productivity boost, with top uses being research, content creation, and ideation.
This achievement comes as competition heats up, with Anthropic launching its own enterprise solution, Claude Enterprise, offering large token context windows and enterprise-grade security.
