Groq Partners with Aramco to Build Major AI Data Center in Saudi Arabia

Groq, an American AI chip startup, is partnering with Aramco Digital to build the world’s largest AI inference data center in Saudi Arabia, set to launch by the end of 2024. Initially featuring 19,000 language processing units, the facility has the potential to expand to 200,000 units.

The project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan to diversify its economy. Groq will also open a regional office in Riyadh to strengthen its Middle Eastern presence. Despite U.S. restrictions on AI chip exports, Groq is confident it won’t face limitations. Founded in 2016, Groq has rapidly gained attention in the AI space and was recently valued at $2.8 billion.
