Schmooze, an AI-powered dating platform that uses memes to spark connections, has raised $4 million in a Series A funding round led by Elevation Capital. Angel investors, including the founders of UltraHuman, The Souled Store, Mosaic Wellness, and Paytm, also participated. The funds will be used to enhance Schmooze’s AI capabilities and expand its user base.
Founded by Vidya Madhavan and Abhinav Anurag, Schmooze was created as an alternative to traditional dating apps that prioritize looks over personality. Instead, Schmooze focuses on shared humor, helping users connect through memes. Since its launch, the platform has gained over 1 million users and seen 900 million meme swipes. Its AI engine, which adapts with each interaction, builds detailed user personas and offers conversation starters through its “Schmooze Predicts” feature. Additionally, the platform’s AI-powered coach, ‘Genie,’ helps users enhance their storytelling abilities for more authentic connections.
