DataCrunch Secures €12M to Accelerate AI Infrastructure Expansion Across Europe

DataCrunch, a European leader in AI computing infrastructure, has raised €12 million in seed funding, with the round led by venture capital firm byFounders. The funding aims to fuel DataCrunch’s ambition to become Europe’s first hyperscaler, significantly enhancing its AI service delivery by boosting computing capacity.

The round saw participation from key investors, including J12 Ventures and notable angel investors such as Oskari Saarenmaa, founder of Aiven, and Tuomo Riekki, founder of Smartly. Continued backing came from Finnish insurance giant Local Tapiola and Nordic bank Nordea.

Founded in 2020 by CEO Ruben Bryon, DataCrunch has now secured $18 million in total funding. Over the past year, the company has experienced a 250% increase in annual revenue and has provided infrastructure to a range of AI startups and established firms, including developers at OpenAI, Sony, 1x.tech, Freepik, Nex.art, Manifest.ai, and Premai.io.

The new funding will be directed toward scaling the company’s infrastructure. DataCrunch plans to roll out Nvidia H200 servers and clusters, with further expansion including the adoption of GB200 NVL72 clusters next year. This upgrade will significantly enhance the speed, capacity, and overall performance of its services, ensuring the company meets the increasing demand for optimized, high-performance AI computing resources.

In a landscape where AI innovation is often hindered by the cost and limited availability of accelerators like GPUs, DataCrunch provides a vital solution. The company offers on-demand, cost-efficient access to AI-optimized compute clusters, allowing businesses to flexibly scale resources such as storage, processing power, and networking according to their needs.

DataCrunch operates from data centers in Finland and Iceland, leveraging renewable energy to deliver cost-effective services at a fraction of the cost charged by traditional cloud providers. The platform’s specialized hardware and software support AI-driven businesses, while self-service tools empower clients to deploy their own models independently.

The investment from byFounders reflects confidence in DataCrunch’s trajectory as it positions itself as a major player in AI infrastructure. By offering scalable, affordable, and environmentally responsible solutions, the company is poised to meet the evolving demands of AI companies across Europe.
