Kerala-based semiconductor startup Netrasemi has secured ₹10 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures to advance its edge AI solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The funding will support the fabrication of two machine learning system-on-chips (SoCs), Netra A2000 and Netra R1000, the company announced.
Founded in 2020 by Jyothis Indirabhai, Sreejith Varma, and Deepa Geetha, Netrasemi focuses on designing AI/ML-enabled SoCs tailored for intelligent edge devices. The company has developed three chip families: Netra-R1000, Netra-A2000, and Netra-A4000. These chips leverage Netrasemi’s proprietary DSA technology and a graph-stream hardware acceleration architecture.
Jyothis Indirabhai, co-founder of Netrasemi, stated that the Netra family of chips would be the first AI/ML SoCs designed and developed in India specifically for intelligent edge devices. He emphasized the company’s commitment to producing in-house digital IPs.
Anil Joshi, managing partner at Unicorn India Ventures, highlighted the transformative potential of the AI industry, particularly in the edge AI software market. Joshi remarked that the funding would enable Netrasemi to scale its innovative solutions and capitalize on emerging opportunities in this space.
This funding marks a significant milestone in Netrasemi’s mission to advance India’s position in the global semiconductor and AI landscape.
