Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg predicts a near future where artificial intelligence (AI) will disrupt the way software is developed. Speaking in a recent interview about Meta’s direction in 2025, he boldly declared: “We at Meta are going to have an AI that can effectively be a sort of mid-level engineer that can write code.”
Zuckerberg’s statement points to a dramatic shift in the tech landscape, where AI is not merely a tool but a core contributor to innovation. He sees this as a way to augment human creativity rather than replace it.
“My view on this is like, the future people are just going to be so much more creative, and they’re going to be freed up to do kind of crazy things,” he said.
This shift, however, isn’t about eliminating human jobs but reimagining them. Zuckerberg drew a parallel to historical technological revolutions, such as the industrialization of farming. He argued that just as machinery reduced the percentage of farmers while unlocking new opportunities, AI will similarly expand possibilities for creative and cultural pursuits.
The Meta CEO also suggested that AI-driven coding could transform the very nature of software development. Instead of static applications, he envisions dynamic agents capable of generating tools, interfaces, and functionalities on demand.
“At that point, applications aren’t really the same as they have been for the last 50, 70 years,” he noted.
While some fear AI will disrupt jobs, Zuckerberg remains optimistic, believing it will amplify human productivity.
“We’re going to have so much more productivity,” he said, highlighting a future where individuals and teams can achieve far greater outcomes with less effort.
This vision suggests that AI will not only reshape technology but also redefine the way we work, collaborate, and innovate — transforming challenges into opportunities for growth.
