Apple Reveals $500B U.S. Investment with New AI Server Factory in Texas

Apple has unveiled plans to open a new artificial intelligence server manufacturing facility in Texas as part of a $500 billion investment to expand its U.S. operations. The 250,000-square-foot facility in Houston will produce servers for Apple Intelligence, the AI-powered personal assistant for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. Scheduled to begin operations in 2026, the factory is a key component of Apple’s multi-year commitment to bolster its presence in advanced technology and manufacturing across the country.

Apple’s investment plan includes the hiring of approximately 20,000 new employees, focusing on research and development, silicon engineering, software development, and AI-driven innovation. The company also announced it will double its U.S. Advanced Manufacturing Fund to $10 billion, establish a manufacturing academy in Michigan, and expand its R&D footprint to support advancements in AI and silicon engineering.

“We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook. The announcement follows Cook’s recent meeting with President Donald Trump amid ongoing discussions about U.S. manufacturing policies.

Apple’s move comes as the company faces geopolitical and trade pressures, with tariffs on Chinese imports affecting global supply chains. By expanding its U.S. manufacturing operations, Apple aims to strengthen domestic production while maintaining its leadership in AI-driven technology. The company also reaffirmed its position as one of the largest U.S. taxpayers, contributing over $75 billion in taxes over the past five years, including $19 billion in 2024 alone.
