Footprints AI Closes €2.3M Funding Round to Expand AI-Powered Retail Media Solutions

Romanian startup Footprints AI has raised €2.3 million in funding to accelerate its international expansion and enhance its AI-driven retail media and data insights platform. The investment was led by Catalyst Romania through its Fund II, with participation from SeedBlink, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth trajectory.

Founded in 2017 by Dan Marc, Footprints AI provides an advanced platform that enables retailers, brands, and agencies to optimize advertising and customer engagement through artificial intelligence. The technology analyzes shopping behavior from over 25 million customers each month, transforming anonymous shopper data into actionable media audiences while ensuring full data privacy. Leading retailers such as Profi, Carrefour, Wolt, Lagardère Travel Retail, and Altex already utilize the platform to drive revenue growth and precision-targeted omnichannel campaigns.

Marius Ghenea, Managing Partner at Catalyst Romania and part of the 3TS Capital Partners Romania network, stated that Footprints AI has exceeded expectations, with the company’s revenue increasing sixfold in 2024 compared to the previous year. He emphasized the platform’s ability to revolutionize the retail media landscape by delivering unparalleled insights and advertising efficiency.

The latest funding round also saw the participation of existing investors alongside SeedBlink, a Bucharest-based platform facilitating startup financing, equity management, and secondary market access for European private companies. The newly secured capital will support Footprints AI’s continued expansion across Central and Eastern Europe while strengthening its platform with advanced AI, automation, and improved data security.

Dan Marc, CEO and co-founder of Footprints AI, highlighted that the investment positions the company to meet the rising demand for retail media in the CEE region, where supply struggles to keep pace. He stated that the company aims to expand into new high-growth markets, leveraging AI to enhance efficiency and scalability for retailers and advertisers alike.
