Amsterdam-based AI startup Lemni has officially launched, securing $3.5 million (approximately €3.3 million) in a pre-seed funding round led by Sequoia Capital. The investment will accelerate product development, expand the team, and scale its AI-powered customer experience solutions to businesses worldwide.
Sequoia Capital partner Julien Bek emphasized the firm’s confidence in Lemni’s leadership, stating that great product experiences begin with strong founders. The round also saw participation from Designer Fund, Frank Slootman, Scott Belsky, Arthur Mensch, Koen Bok, Jorn van Dijk, Christian Reber, Niklas Jansen, and Mario Götze.
Co-founded by Alex Buis and Krijn Rijshouwer, Lemni is redefining customer service by introducing AI agents that operate from a single source of truth. Unlike conventional automated systems that rely on scripted responses, Lemni’s AI solutions provide real-time insights, ensuring that every customer interaction picks up where the last one ended. This eliminates redundant conversations, reduces frustration, and enhances efficiency.
Lemni aims to make AI-driven customer support more accessible by offering an innovative pricing model: its core product is sold at cost, while revenue is generated through optional add-ons. This approach lowers the barrier for businesses of all sizes to integrate AI into their operations.
Rijshouwer highlighted the company’s vision, stating that AI now provides the tools to enhance customer experience without compromising personalization. He explained that Lemni’s AI agents enable seamless, continuous conversations, removing the inefficiencies of traditional customer service models.
With its fresh approach to AI-driven support, Lemni is poised to revolutionize how businesses interact with their customers, ensuring smarter and more intuitive engagement at scale.
