Dubformer Raises $3.6M to Advance AI Dubbing with Emotion Transfer Technology

Amsterdam-based AI dubbing startup Dubformer has secured $3.6 million (€3.38 million) in seed funding to enhance the emotional depth of AI-generated voiceovers. The round was led by Almaz Capital, with participation from s16vc, FinSight, and notable angel investors, including Arul Menezes, founder of Microsoft Translator, and Funa Maduka, former head of International Original Film at Netflix.

Dubformer, founded by Anton Dvorkovich in 2023, is tackling a major challenge in AI dubbing — bridging the gap between machine-generated voices and human speech. Its proprietary Emotion Transfer technology ensures that dubbed content maintains the emotional and acoustic nuances of the original performance, creating a more immersive experience. Unlike traditional voice cloning, this approach captures intonation, pacing, and ambient characteristics such as echoes and reverberations, producing a more natural result.

Since its launch, Dubformer has rapidly expanded, growing over 50% month-over-month. The company now serves over 200 clients across the US and Europe, including Paramount, Little Dot Studios, and Mainstream Media. Strategic partnerships with industry leaders such as Voxx in Los Angeles, Presto in the Czech Republic, and Gobavo in Turkey underscore its increasing global reach. Dvorkovich emphasized that Dubformer’s technology empowers media companies to expand international distribution while reducing localization costs without compromising quality.

Headquartered in Amsterdam, with offices in Wilmington, Delaware, and Belgrade, Serbia, Dubformer is set to redefine AI dubbing by prioritizing authenticity and emotional fidelity in localized content. Its platform and API offer accessibility for creators and studios seeking high-quality AI dubbing solutions.
