PRESS RELEASE — FSM, 5G, digital twins, virtual plants, video analytics, AI and robotics in the energy sector are going to be discussed at the Oil and Gas Automation and Digitalisation Congress (AUTOMA) 2025. The Congress gathers the industry leaders involved in exploration, production, transportation and refining to share recent case studies on 13-14 October in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The 8th edition of AUTOMA emphasises sustainability as a key theme, highlighting how automation and digitalisation contribute to greener energy solutions. Experts discuss cutting-edge technologies and transformation strategies that not only improve efficiency in the industry but also enhance operational performance, reduce waste and optimise processes, fostering a circular economy.
Furthermore, the business programme of the Congress highlights the following topics:
- transformation of the oil and gas industry with low-carbon energy;
- process optimisation for smart refineries using AI;
- efficiency and productivity in upstream with asset management and data-driven software;
- digital twin for production optimisation;
- collaboration with startups projects.
Participants from previous editions of AUTOMA have underlined its broad audience and practical approach. Hooman Haghighi, Global Director of Decarbonisation Digital Solutions at Wood, noticed the value of diversity: “In my point of view, having representatives from different elements of the value chain and different stakeholders is the key advantage. We share the experience, we share the knowledge, we share the pain points, and we try to find the solution for it together.”
This year, leading industry players from TotalEnergies, Fluor, Repsol, Shell, MOL Group, SOCAR Turkiye Energy, McDermott, Cenosco and others are participating in the Congress, sharing their perspectives and presenting real-life cases on implementing technologies to enhance efficiency and safety in the oil and gas sector.
