Butterfly Effect, the Chinese startup behind the AI agent Manus, has raised $75 million in a funding round led by U.S.-based venture capital firm Benchmark, according to Bloomberg. The round, which included existing investors, reportedly boosted the company’s valuation to nearly $500 million.
Butterfly Effect plans to use the new capital to expand Manus into markets including the U.S., Japan, and the Middle East. Manus gained attention in March with the release of its general-purpose AI agent, designed to perform tasks such as resume screening, trip planning, and stock analysis.
The company claims its model outperforms OpenAI’s Deep Research tool and recently launched a subscription service starting at $39 per month.
