Speaking at a tech conference in Washington, D.C., NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that China is not far behind the U.S. in artificial intelligence development, calling Huawei “one of the most formidable technology companies in the world.” Huang acknowledged the tight race in AI, noting it remains a long-term global competition. He praised Huawei’s advancements in computing and networking, describing their recent progress as “enormous.”
As NVIDIA faces tightening U.S. export restrictions, including a $5.5 billion hit on chip shipments to China, Huang reiterated his call for domestic policies that strengthen AI competitiveness. He affirmed NVIDIA’s commitment to building AI infrastructure in the U.S., adding that with national willpower, onshore manufacturing is achievable.
