Intel is reportedly exploring a potential sale of its networking and edge computing division as part of a broader strategy to streamline operations and concentrate on its core businesses. According to Reuters, the unit — responsible for $5.8 billion in revenue in 2024 — develops chips for telecom infrastructure and is currently attracting interest from potential buyers, though no formal sale process has been launched.
Under CEO Lip-Bu Tan, Intel is prioritizing its leadership in PC and data center semiconductors. At the Intel Vision conference in March, Tan indicated the company would begin divesting non-core assets. While Intel has not commented on the potential sale, the move aligns with its ongoing strategy to sharpen focus on its highest-growth segments.
