Telegram has announced a major partnership with Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, to integrate the Grok chatbot across its messaging platform for a one-year term. As part of the agreement, xAI will pay $300 million in cash and equity to Telegram, CEO Pavel Durov confirmed on Tuesday.
The partnership allows Telegram to distribute Grok via its app ecosystem and earn 50% of all subscription revenue from Grok purchases made within the platform. Initially available only to premium users, Grok is now expected to roll out to the broader Telegram user base.
A demo shared by Durov shows Grok embedded directly into chat workflows — accessible via the search bar and pinning features — and capable of tasks like message summarization, content generation, document analysis, and moderation. Telegram’s move mirrors similar integrations by Meta with its own AI assistant in WhatsApp and Instagram.
The collaboration signals Telegram’s growing focus on AI-powered tools while positioning xAI’s Grok for mainstream adoption through one of the world’s most widely used messaging platforms.
