Context, an AI-powered productivity startup, has raised $11 million in a seed funding round led by Lux Capital, with participation from Qualcomm Ventures and General Catalyst. The round brings Context’s total funding to $15.75 million and values the company at $70 million.
Founded by Joseph Semrai, a Thiel Fellow, Context was launched in 2024 to address the limitations of traditional office software in leveraging large AI models. Semrai said existing office suites weren’t built with AI’s capabilities in mind and that they are designing a system where AI doesn’t just retrieve information — it reasons with it.
Context combines a simple chat-based interface with powerful functionality, including real-time research, document creation, and integrated code execution. Unlike legacy suites, it’s engineered to help users synthesize information and produce actionable outputs — online or offline.
