IBM has acquired Seek AI, a natural language data analytics platform, to strengthen its enterprise AI portfolio and anchor its newly launched Watsonx AI Labs in New York City. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2021 by Sarah Nagy, Seek AI enables business users to query and analyze complex enterprise data using natural language. The platform automatically translates questions into database queries and returns detailed analysis, aiming to make data intelligence more accessible across organizations.
Nagy confirmed the acquisition in a statement, saying the technology will now “scale under IBM, deliver mission-critical solutions for clients, and empower the next generation of AI developers.” Seek will relocate its headquarters to One Madison, the future home of Watsonx AI Labs and IBM’s new Manhattan offices.
The acquisition supports IBM’s strategy to dominate enterprise AI through its Watsonx ecosystem, which saw strong momentum in Q1 earnings driven by AI-powered software growth. Ritika Gunnar, IBM GM of Data and AI, said Watsonx AI Labs will be “a collaborative hub where top developers gain access to world-class engineers, resources, and venture support to build transformative applications.”
Watsonx AI Labs will serve as both a product accelerator and research initiative, connecting IBM teams with local universities and startups. Qualifying ventures may also receive backing from IBM Ventures and its $500 million enterprise AI fund, further cementing the company’s long-term AI commitment.
