Amazon Web Services has opened applications for the 2025 AWS Generative AI Accelerator, a program aimed at helping early-stage startups scale foundational technologies.

The eight-week global program will select 40 companies developing generative AI models, tools, and infrastructure. Participants will receive up to $1 million in AWS credits, technical mentorship, go-to-market support, and access to Amazon’s cloud-based AI development stack.

“We are now at a stage where virtually all startups will be applying generative AI to their business in one shape or form. That’s why for this year’s accelerator, we are honing our focus to support those startups developing the foundational technologies that will define what’s possible with AI,” said Jon Jones, VP and Global Head of Startups at AWS.

Applications for the third accelerator cohort opened June 10 and will close July 10. The program will launch in Seattle on October 13 and conclude during AWS re:Invent 2025. According to AWS, startups accepted into the program are expected to have a working product, early customer interest, and a technical team. While prior use of AWS services is not required, companies already using the cloud platform are likely to benefit more from the hands-on engineering support provided.

The focus for 2025 is on companies that are building models, agentic frameworks, fine-tuning platforms, and other enabling technologies, signaling AWS’s belief that future AI breakthroughs will come from these foundational efforts.

Selected companies will join a hybrid format that blends in-person and virtual sessions. The structure is designed to match the pace of fast-moving startups, with personalized technical guidance from AWS engineers and architects, as well as business support from startup mentors. Companies will also gain exposure through AWS’s channels, events, and ecosystem.

“At Latent Labs, we are building AI foundation models to make biology programmable and accelerate and improve drug discovery,” Simon Kohl, CEO and founder of Latent Labs, which participated in the 2024 AWS Generative AI Accelerator, said in a statement. “The AWS Generative AI Accelerator offered us a unique blend of technical depth and commercial reach, which was instrumental in accelerating both our platform capabilities and our market adoption.”

AWS said the 2025 cohort will be globally inclusive, with startups from North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia Pacific. Industry-specific mentoring will be part of the curriculum, offering targeted support for sectors like healthcare, security, and finance.
