Meta Platforms is developing an AI-enabled smart-glasses line with Italian luxury house Prada, CNBC reported Tuesday, signalling Meta’s plan to broaden its wearable strategy beyond longtime partner EssilorLuxottica.
The forthcoming eyewear, whose launch date remains undisclosed, would follow millions of Ray-Ban Meta sales and a teased Oakley collaboration that could debut at about $360. Prada, independent of EssilorLuxottica ownership but historically reliant on its manufacturing, recently renewed its eyewear production deal with the giant.
By pairing Meta’s on-device assistant with Prada design, the project aims to extend AI vision features to the high-fashion market and solidify Meta’s position at the intersection of augmented reality, luxury branding and consumer electronics.
