LMArena, the company behind the AI benchmarking service Chatbot Arena, has raised $100 million in seed funding at a $600 million valuation. Spun out from a University of California, Berkeley project in April, the platform has quickly become a central tool for comparing large language models in real-world scenarios.
LMArena enables users to pit AI models head-to-head by submitting prompts and anonymously selecting the best responses. Its crowdsourced approach has attracted major AI developers, including OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic, making it a neutral benchmark in a competitive field.
Backed by Andreessen Horowitz and UC Investments, the funding will support LMArena’s expansion and the development of new domain-specific evaluation tools for the growing AI landscape.
