AI infrastructure startup LangChain is reportedly finalizing a new funding round led by IVP, valuing the company at approximately $1 billion, according to sources familiar with the deal. Founded by Harrison Chase in 2022, LangChain gained early traction by offering developers open-source tools to build and extend large language model (LLM) applications with external data, APIs, and databases.
To stay competitive amid rapid API advancements from OpenAI and others, LangChain introduced LangSmith, a proprietary platform for evaluating, monitoring, and debugging LLM-powered agents. LangSmith has quickly become a core revenue driver, with reported annual recurring revenue between $12 million and $16 million and adoption by major companies like Klarna, Rippling, and Replit.
