New AI Chip from NVIDIA Targets Chinese Market Under Export Restrictions

NVIDIA is reportedly preparing to launch a new AI chip tailored for the Chinese market, aiming for a release as early as September, according to the Financial Times. The chip will be based on the company’s Blackwell RTX Pro 6000 processor but modified to comply with U.S. export controls.

Key features such as high-bandwidth memory and NVLink — common in NVIDIA’s most advanced AI chips — will be excluded to meet regulatory requirements. This move signals NVIDIA’s continued efforts to maintain a foothold in China’s datacenter market, even as CEO Jensen Huang recently stated that the company would no longer factor Chinese sales into its financial guidance.

NVIDIA has declined to comment on the development.
