Meta to Double AI Infrastructure Spend as It Scales Titan Clusters and Superintelligence Ambitions

Meta announced plans to significantly ramp its investment in AI infrastructure, revealing during its second-quarter earnings that capital expenditures for 2025 are expected to reach $66–72 billion, up by approximately $30 billion year-over-year. The increase supports Meta’s expanding ambitions in artificial intelligence, with plans to maintain aggressive infrastructure growth into 2026.

The company is building a series of large-scale AI clusters, including Prometheus in Ohio, which will deliver 1 gigawatt of compute power, and Hyperion in Louisiana, which could eventually scale to 5 gigawatts. These titan clusters, along with several others in development, form the backbone of Meta’s strategy to lead in AI model training and deployment.

Chief Financial Officer Susan Li noted Meta may explore co-development financing models for future data centers, though no deals have been finalized. Beyond infrastructure, a second wave of spending will come from AI talent acquisition, as Meta aggressively hires engineers and researchers for its new Superintelligence Labs unit.

Meta also reiterated CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s vision of “personal superintelligence,” emphasizing AI-powered tools embedded in smart glasses and VR headsets as a core long-term product strategy. In Q2, Meta posted $47.5 billion in revenue, driven by AI-enhanced ad targeting, while Reality Labs reported a $4.5 billion loss. The company’s stock rose 10% after hours following strong earnings and bullish guidance for Q3.
