Mistral AI, the French artificial intelligence startup founded by former DeepMind and Meta researchers, is reportedly finalizing a €2 billion investment that would value the company at $14 billion, according to Bloomberg. The funding would mark a major leap from its last raise in June 2024, when it was valued at €5.8 billion, and position Mistral among Europe’s most valuable tech startups.
Known for its open-source language models and Le Chat, a chatbot tailored to European users, Mistral has previously raised more than €1 billion from investors including Andreessen Horowitz and General Catalyst. The deal reflects surging momentum in European AI, with funding into the sector up 55% year-on-year and multiple startups achieving unicorn status in 2025.
