Black Forest Labs Targets $300M Raise at $4B Valuation as European AI Momentum Grows

Germany’s Black Forest Labs is in early talks to raise between $200 million and $300 million, a round expected to be led by Andreessen Horowitz that could boost its valuation to $4 billion, up sharply from $1 billion.

Founded in 2024 by Robin Rombach, Andreas Blattmann, and Patrick Esser, the company has emerged as a leader in generative AI, with its Flux models producing hyper-realistic images and offering advanced editing capabilities.

The team’s prior work on Stable Diffusion underscored their technical credibility, while recent collaborations with Mistral, including integration into the “Le Chat” app and open-source releases, have amplified global visibility. The funding would position Black Forest among Europe’s most valuable AI startups, signaling rising investor confidence in the region’s innovation hubs.
