Apple Selects Google Gemini to Power Next Phase of AI Features Across Its Platforms

Apple has confirmed a multi-year partnership with Google to power future AI capabilities, including enhancements to Siri, using Google’s Gemini models and cloud infrastructure. The agreement follows internal evaluations of multiple AI providers and positions Google’s technology as the foundation for Apple’s next generation of Apple Foundation Models. Financial terms were not disclosed, though prior reports have suggested the deal could be valued at around $1 billion. The arrangement is not exclusive.

Apple said it will maintain its longstanding focus on privacy, with significant AI processing continuing to run on-device or within tightly controlled systems. The partnership builds on Apple’s rollout of Apple Intelligence in 2024 and comes as the company prepares a long-anticipated upgrade to Siri later this year. The collaboration also unfolds against the backdrop of ongoing U.S. antitrust scrutiny of Google, including restrictions on exclusive default agreements, adding regulatory complexity to one of the industry’s most consequential AI partnerships.
