The European Commission has announced two new funding calls under the Horizon Europe ‘Digital, Industry and Space’ programme, committing €307.3 million to strengthen Europe’s leadership in artificial intelligence and emerging digital technologies.

Of the total, €221.8 million will support the development of trustworthy AI, advanced data services, and initiatives aligned with the EU’s Apply AI Strategy, including robotics, quantum technologies, photonics, and virtual worlds. More than €40 million within this call is allocated to the Open Internet Stack Initiative, supporting European sovereign digital commons.

A second call, totaling €85.5 million, will focus on open strategic autonomy, funding work on next-generation AI agents, industrial and service robotics, and advanced sensing materials. The investment aligns with the Commission’s Competitiveness Compass and is open to organizations across EU Member States and partner countries.
