Inferact Launches With $150M Seed Round to Commercialize vLLM Inference Engine

Inferact has emerged from stealth after transitioning the widely used open source inference project vLLM into a commercial venture, securing $150 million in seed funding at an $800 million valuation. The round was co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Inferact’s launch reflects growing investor focus on AI inference, as deployment and operating efficiency become central to scaling AI applications. vLLM was originally incubated in 2023 at UC Berkeley under the lab of Ion Stoica. The company is led by Simon Mo, one of vLLM’s original creators, and counts major platforms including Amazon’s cloud services among its users as it moves to commercialize high-performance AI inference infrastructure.
