Musical AI Closes $4.5M in Funding to Expand Attribution Infrastructure for Generative Music AI

Musical AI announced it has raised $4.5 million in funding to expand its artificial intelligence attribution and rights-compliance platform for generative music technologies. The round was led by Heavybit, with participation from BDC and Build Ventures.

Founded in 2023 by Sean Power, Matthew Adell, and Nicolas Gonzalez Thomas, the Los Angeles–based company develops infrastructure that helps AI developers license training data, track usage, and ensure creators are credited and compensated. The platform connects rightsholders with generative AI companies through attribution tracking and compliance tools. The new funding will support team expansion, continued development of attribution technology, and additional partnerships across the music and AI industries.
