Pinterest CEO Bill Ready highlighted the company’s role as a major search destination during its fourth-quarter earnings discussion, comparing the platform’s search activity with AI chatbot usage such as ChatGPT. Ready indicated Pinterest processes roughly 80 billion searches per month and generates about 1.7 billion monthly clicks, with more than half of searches tied to commercial intent.
The comments followed quarterly results in which Pinterest reported revenue of $1.32 billion and earnings per share of $0.67, both below expectations, despite monthly active users growing 12% year over year to 619 million. The company attributed the shortfall to reduced advertiser spending in Europe and tariff-related challenges affecting the home category.
Pinterest is continuing to invest in AI-driven visual search, personalization, and commerce tools, alongside its partnership with Amazon, as it adapts to AI-powered discovery and shopping experiences.
