OpenAI has partnered with Reliance Industries to integrate AI-powered conversational search into the JioHotstar streaming service, enabling users to discover movies, shows, and live sports through natural language text and voice prompts across multiple languages. Powered by OpenAI’s API, the feature delivers personalized recommendations based on viewing history and preferences.
Announced at the India AI Impact Summit, the collaboration involves leaders including Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, and Sundar Pichai, with product direction from Fidji Simo and Uday Shankar. The partnership will also extend to ChatGPT, allowing entertainment queries to surface direct JioHotstar recommendations and links. The rollout will cover both live and on-demand content and forms part of OpenAI’s broader strategy to expand infrastructure, enterprise, and consumer AI adoption across India.
