Adobe Introduces AI-Powered Quick Cut Feature in Firefly Video Editor

Adobe has launched a new AI-driven capability called Quick Cut within its Firefly video editor, designed to automatically assemble a first draft of a video from raw footage and B-roll based on natural-language instructions. The tool analyzes uploaded media, removes irrelevant segments, sequences key takes, and inserts transitions using suitable supporting clips, significantly reducing manual editing time.

Users can specify parameters such as aspect ratio, pacing, and optional B-roll, applying the feature to entire projects, timelines, or selected clips. Product lead Mike Folgner indicated the feature targets routine editing tasks so creators can focus on storytelling and refinement.

Quick Cut builds on Adobe’s broader push into generative video workflows, including prompt-based editing, layered timeline controls, and AI tools for adjusting visual elements, camera angles, and composition across projects.
