Netflix Acquires AI Film Editing Startup InterPositive Co-Founded by Ben Affleck

Netflix has acquired InterPositive, an artificial intelligence startup co-founded by Ben Affleck, in a deal that could be worth up to $600 million, according to reporting from Bloomberg. While the streaming company has not publicly confirmed the full financial details, sources indicated that part of the transaction may be tied to future performance milestones rather than a single upfront payment.

InterPositive develops AI-powered tools designed to assist filmmakers in post-production by identifying continuity issues, enhancing scenes, and improving editing workflows. The company’s technology focuses on production efficiency rather than generating new content or using footage without permission.

The acquisition reflects Netflix’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into film and television production. The company has already experimented with generative AI in original projects, including visual effects used in the Argentine series The Eternaut, as major media companies including Amazon and Disney accelerate their own AI initiatives in entertainment.
