WordPress.com has announced the rollout of AI agent capabilities that enable users to create, edit, and manage website content through natural language commands. The new functionality allows AI systems to draft and publish posts, organize content, manage comments, and optimize metadata, significantly expanding automation across website operations.
The company indicated that these agents can generate pages, restructure categories, and improve SEO elements such as titles and alt text, while maintaining user oversight through approval workflows and activity tracking. The update builds on WordPress.com’s earlier adoption of Model Context Protocol (MCP), which enables AI tools to access site data and context.
With WordPress powering a substantial portion of the internet, the introduction of AI-driven publishing tools signals a shift toward automated web content creation, lowering barriers to entry while raising broader questions about AI-generated content at scale.
