Databricks has unveiled Lakewatch, a new AI-driven security product designed to enhance threat detection and investigation within its data platform, while confirming two startup acquisitions to support the launch. The company, fresh off a $5 billion capital raise, is integrating AI agents powered by Anthropic’s Claude to perform core Security Information and Event Management functions across large-scale datasets.
To accelerate development, Databricks acquired Antimatter, founded by Andrew Krioukov, and SiftD.ai, led by former Splunk chief scientist Steve Zhang. Antimatter contributed technology focused on secure data control for AI agents, while SiftD.ai developed collaborative tools for human and agent interaction.
Both teams have joined Databricks, with Krioukov now leading the Lakewatch initiative, as the company signals continued investment in AI-driven security capabilities.
