French AI company Mistral AI has raised $830 million in debt financing to support the construction of a new data center near Paris, as it accelerates investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure. The facility, located in Bruyères-le-Châtel, is expected to be powered by Nvidia chips and is scheduled to become operational in the second quarter of 2026.
CEO Arthur Mensch has positioned the expansion as part of a broader strategy to strengthen Europe’s AI capabilities and reduce reliance on external cloud providers. The company previously outlined plans to deploy 200 megawatts of compute capacity across the region by 2027.
Mistral’s infrastructure push follows a separate $1.4 billion investment in Sweden and builds on more than €2.8 billion raised to date from investors including General Catalyst, ASML, Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed, and DST Global.
