A new survey from Quinnipiac University indicates that 15% of Americans would be willing to work under an AI-powered manager, reflecting increasing openness to artificial intelligence in workplace leadership. The poll, conducted between March 19 and 23, 2026 among 1,397 U.S. adults, explored attitudes toward AI adoption, trust, and employment risks.
While most respondents remain reluctant to replace human supervisors, the findings point to growing integration of AI into managerial functions. Companies including Workday and Amazon are already deploying AI systems to handle tasks traditionally managed by middle management, while Uber engineers have developed an AI model of CEO Dara Khosrowshahi to evaluate internal pitches.
The survey also highlights concern around AI-driven workforce changes, with 70% of respondents indicating that advances in AI are expected to reduce job opportunities, and a significant portion of workers expressing concern about job displacement.
