Runway has announced the launch of a $10 million venture fund to support early-stage startups building across AI, media, and simulation, as the company expands its focus beyond AI video generation into broader “video intelligence” applications. The initiative includes a Builders program offering startups significant API credits to accelerate development on Runway’s platform.
Led by co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer Alejandro Matamala-Ortiz, the strategy centers on enabling external teams to build applications on top of Runway’s multimodal AI models, including its real-time video agent technology. The company has already backed startups such as LanceDB and Tamarind Bio, spanning infrastructure and AI-driven scientific applications.
With strong backing and a growing ecosystem approach, Runway is positioning itself as a foundational layer for next-generation AI-powered media and interactive environments.
