Milan-based startup IdentifAI, which focuses on developing models to detect AI-generated content, has secured €2.2M million in seed funding. The round was led by United Ventures, with contributions from business angels such as Edoardo Alessandri of Wellness Holding, Matteo Fago, co-founder of Venere.com, and Umberto Paolucci of UP Invest.
The funds will support IdentifAI’s efforts to combat the rise of deepfakes by enhancing its “degenerative” AI platform. This technology can reliably determine whether content was produced by generative AI or human creators.
Marco Ramilli, founder of IdentifAI, believes that advancements in generative AI are increasingly blurring the lines between the physical and digital worlds. He mentioned that the recent funding would enable the company to refine its models, helping people to distinguish between natural and artificial content.
United Ventures sees IdentifAI as a key player in the deepfake detection industry, aligning with its strategy of backing innovative solutions to complex challenges. “Distinguishing human-created content from AI-generated material is increasingly vital,” noted Massimiliano Magrini, co-founder of United Ventures.
