Parakeet Health Secures $3M Seed Funding to Expand AI-Driven Patient Communication Platform

AI-powered patient communication startup Parakeet Health has announced raising $3 million in seed funding led by Canvas Ventures, with participation from CoFound Partners, StoryHouse Ventures, and prominent investors, including former One Medical CEO Tom Lee and former Twitter CTO Adam Messinger.

Parakeet Health, co-founded by Jung Park and Eric Mao, developed an AI call center agent capable of answering inbound calls, making outbound calls, and sending texts to patients. The platform, designed to alleviate staffing challenges and enhance patient experience, can manage appointment scheduling, billing inquiries, and follow-up calls, all while being available 24/7.

The founders stressed the platform’s capacity to improve efficiency and reduce revenue leakage for provider organizations. According to Mao, Parakeet’s AI has been fine-tuned to sound natural, making patient interactions seamless, while also reducing costs for healthcare providers. In its deployments, Parakeet claims to have reduced patient acquisition costs by over 50%.

Canvas Ventures’ chief investor, Rebecca Lynn, noted that Parakeet is gaining traction by helping healthcare systems scale their patient communications, automating critical tasks like follow-ups and scheduling without overwhelming staff.

The company’s AI call center is already being used by several healthcare organizations, including virtual primary care provider Galileo Health and genetic counseling leader Genome Medical. With this new funding, Parakeet aims to expand its AI call center technology further and build out its customer base across the healthcare sector.
