Cleantech startup Xatoms has raised $3 million in pre-seed funding to advance its AI- and quantum-powered water purification system that operates without infrastructure. The company’s material, activated by sunlight or LED, purifies contaminated water in 30 minutes — removing pathogens, heavy metals, and pollutants with no traditional treatment required.
Founded by Diana Virgovicova, Kerem Topal Ismail Oglou, and Shirley Zhong, Xatoms combines expertise in chemical engineering, AI, and quantum science to address water scarcity in underserved regions. Quantacet led the round, joined by Genesis Ventures, BDC’s Thrive Lab, and angel investors including Joe Gagliese, Evan Kubes, and Alex Challans. Virgovicova said the funding will scale pilot deployments, expand the technical team, and accelerate commercial rollout to communities most in need.
