Google is set to reintroduce its AI image creation tool, Gemini, which was paused due to inaccuracies in historical images, as announced by DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis at the 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.
“We have taken the feature offline while we fix that. We are hoping to have that back online very shortly in the next couple of weeks, few weeks”, said Hassabis on a panel at the Congress in Barcelona.
Initially launched this month, Gemini faced criticism for generating incorrect historical depictions, prompting a temporary halt. Google, part of Alphabet Inc., has been developing AI tools to compete with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, including the generative AI chatbot Bard, now known as Gemini. The relaunch includes subscription options for enhanced AI capabilities. Alphabet’s stock fell 3.5%, impacting the S&P 500 index.
